Soul Echoes

Soul Echoes is a 30-minute vocal drama choreographed by Jesús Acosta, and performed by the Lírios Quartet, Luisana Rivas, and Cynthia López, and produced by Warren Binford. This piece amplifies the voices of migrant children detained at the U.S.-México border between 2017 and 2019. The work draws from nearly 1,000 pages of legal declarations collected for a class action lawsuit. I distilled these harrowing testimonies into an impressionistic narrative, giving voice to the children's thoughts and feelings, and serving as a conduit to foster empathy and awareness. It premiered in 2023 in Colorado.
